Yes. At Beo Art Studio, we regularly take custom size portrait commissions outside the standard sizes listed on our pricing page.

Some clients already know the exact dimensions they want. Others only know they want something “bigger,” “more bold,” or something that fits a particular wall or interior setup. In those cases, we usually ask for a photo or short video of the space so we can recommend the best size visually.

The Most Common Custom Requests We Receive

Most clients who want something larger than a basic portrait usually start around 20 × 24 inches. It’s one of the most requested sizes because it feels more premium and visually present without immediately entering oversized pricing territory.

Beyond that, we also receive requests for:

  • Portraits designed to fit a specific wall space
  • Horizontal or landscape portraits
  • Oversized statement pieces
  • Portraits designed around existing interior decor
  • Canvases made to fit already-purchased frames
  • Large framed works for lounges, bars, and commercial spaces

One client in Yenagoa had a recessed wall box design where the portrait needed to sit perfectly inside the space.

Before quoting the project, I visited the location personally to take measurements so the final framed piece would fit properly within the wall structure.

We’ve handled several projects like this where the portrait needed to match a particular setup instead of standard canvas proportions.

How We Help Clients Choose the Right Size

In most cases, choosing the right size is not just about dimensions. It’s about the feeling the artwork should create in the space.

When helping clients decide, we usually consider:

  • Their budget
  • The wall or room size
  • How bold or minimal they want the piece to feel
  • The orientation of the reference photo
  • Whether the artwork is meant to be intimate or a statement piece

Sometimes we recommend going larger if the client wants stronger visual impact.

For example, one client initially wanted a 24 × 30 portrait, but after reviewing the reference and discussing the mood she wanted, we recommended increasing it to a custom landscape format closer to 30 × 36 to better match the composition of her reference image.

From experience, sizes from 30 × 36 inches upward begin to create a much stronger visual presence in living spaces.

How Custom Sizes Are Priced

Custom size pricing is usually calculated based on:

  • Canvas dimensions
  • Medium (pencil, oil, acrylic)
  • Framing requirements
  • Composition complexity
  • Delivery location

If a custom size is close to a standard dimension, pricing is usually similar to the nearest standard option.

Very large works or unusual formats are quoted individually.

Framing costs also increase significantly as portrait size increases. For oversized pieces, framing alone can exceed ₦150,000+ depending on the materials and finishing style.
