For most projects, Beo Art Studio handles all necessary surface preparation as part of the mural project. You do not need to do anything special beforehand. The main thing to do: clear the wall of furniture, décor, and obstructions so the team has full access on arrival.

What surface preparation involves

Before any paint goes on the wall, the surface is assessed and prepared. This typically includes:

  • Cleaning the wall surface (dust, grease, old stickers or tape)
  • Filling cracks and holes with filler and sanding smooth
  • Applying a primer or base coat where needed
  • On very rough or porous surfaces (bare concrete, old brick), extra sealing may be required

The condition of your wall is one factor that affects the project cost. A well-plastered, painted wall needs minimal prep. A raw brick wall or badly damaged surface requires more time and materials before painting begins.

What you should do before we arrive

  • Move furniture, shelves, and décor at least 3 feet away from the wall
  • Remove anything hanging on the wall (frames, fixtures)
  • Ensure there is adequate lighting in the room for detailed work
  • If theres no light no problem we would come with with our battery powered light source
  • If the wall has serious damp, mould, or structural damage — flag this before we arrive so we can factor it into the project plan

What about protecting the rest of the room?

We bring drop cloths and masking tape to protect floors, adjacent walls, and fixed furniture that cannot be moved. Paint splatter is managed as part of our standard site discipline.
